Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Hardware Engineer for a fully remote role supporting Pretoria-based projects. You will guide a team of engineers, set technical direction, and drive the design and testing of advanced hardware for embedded applications.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in electrical hardware, strong analog/digital design, and hands-on PCB and power electronics experience. Remote collaboration is key.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electrical hardware design, with lead or senior roles.
• Expert in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and PCB layout.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and interfaces SPI/I2C/USB/Ethernet.
• Ability to lead teams and manage complex technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end electrical hardware development from concept to production.
• Design complex boards, schematics, and power management for embedded systems.
• Select components/vendors to meet performance, cost, reliability goals.
• Mentor and lead hardware engineers; guide technical direction.
• Define robust hardware testing and validation strategies.
• Collaborate with software teams for hardware-software integration.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues during development and field.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps and R&D initiatives.
