Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Lead Electrical Engineer to drive smart grid initiatives from a remote location within South Africa. You will lead a distributed team, shaping architectures and deployment strategies for AMI, SCADA, and grid automation while collaborating with product, software, and field teams.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, 9+ years in electrical engineering with 4+ in leadership, and strong knowledge of grid modernization concepts

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power/Control focus.
• 9+ years of electrical engineering experience, with 4+ in a lead/supervisory role focused on smart grid technologies.
• Expertise in AMI, SCADA, grid automation, and data analytics for power systems.
• Knowledge of smart grid protocols such as DNP3 and IEC 61850.
• Proven experience leading remote teams and managing complex technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of smart grid solutions (AMI/SCADA) and grid automation.
• Mentor a distributed team of electrical engineers and provide technical oversight.
• Develop system architectures, performance specs, and integration strategies for smart grid technologies.
• Oversee testing, validation, and commissioning of deployments.
• Collaborate with product management, software, and field operations teams.
• Stay abreast of emerging smart grid technologies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development for smart grid initiatives.
• Ensure technical integrity and scalability of deployed solutions.
• Act as a primary technical contact for clients and stakeholders on projects.
• Foster effective communication within the remote engineering team and across the organization.
