Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Field Installation Technician to spearhead the installation of advanced automation systems. This fully remote leadership role requires you to manage installation projects from a distance across client sites in South Africa, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and high quality.

You will mentor junior technicians, troubleshoot complex challenges, and serve as the primary technical escalation point for remote installations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in field installation focusing on automation systems.
• Proven experience in leading technical teams or projects.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial automation hardware, software and control systems.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
• Excellent remote communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage remote teams of installation technicians.
• Oversee planning, scheduling and execution of automation system installations.
• Provide remote technical guidance to installation crews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex installation-related issues remotely.
• Ensure adherence to installation protocols, quality standards and safety regulations.
• Conduct remote site assessments and pre-installation planning.
• Develop and maintain detailed project documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and engineering teams to ensure project success.
• Mentor and train junior technicians on best practices and new technologies.
• Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
