Placements24 is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure across major platforms, with a strong focus on automation and security.

Ideal candidates hold a CS/Engineering degree, have basic cloud platform knowledge, scripting skills, and a proactive, collaborative mindset suitable for a remote team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a remote setting.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive learning mindset and passion for automation and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor performance, identify issues and implement fixes.
