Placements24 is seeking a Junior Architect for a fully remote internship with a forward-thinking architectural practice focused on sustainable housing in South Africa. Based near Paarl, you will support senior architects through concept and schematic design, and help prepare construction documents.

This role suits recent graduates or early-career architects eager to gain hands-on experience with eco-friendly materials, BIM workflows, and community-focused projects, while collaborating remotely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
• Currently registered or eligible for registration as a Candidate Architect with SACAP.
• 0–2 years of relevant architectural experience (internship valued).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior architects in the design and development of sustainable housing projects.
• Prepare architectural drawings, models and presentations under guidance.
• Conduct research on sustainable building materials, technologies and best practices.
• Support the creation of technical documentation, including specifications and detailing.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute design ideas in a virtual environment.
• Assist with site analysis and feasibility studies as required.
• Help coordinate with consultants and suppliers remotely.
• Learn and apply BIM principles and software within project workflows.

About the Role

Our client is a forward-thinking architectural practice committed to developing innovative and sustainable housing solutions across South Africa. They are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Architect to join their fully remote team, ideally based in or near Paarl, Western Cape . This internship offers a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career architect to gain hands-on experience in designing eco-friendly homes, working with sustainable materials, and contributing to impactful community projects. You will support senior architects in all phases of design, from concept development and schematic design to the preparation of construction documents. This remote role requires self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for sustainable design and its role in addressing housing challenges.
