Placements24 is seeking a Security Compliance Specialist for a remote role based in East London, Eastern Cape. You will develop and manage compliance programs, conduct audits, and drive improvements in security posture while collaborating across IT, legal, and business units.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in information security compliance, strong knowledge of ISO 27001 and POPIA, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Law or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in information security compliance, risk management, or auditing.
• Strong knowledge of information security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST) and data privacy regulations (POPIA).
• Experience with compliance assessment methodologies and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex information clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Relevant certifications such as Security+, CISA, or CRISC are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain security compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure adherence to regulations such as ISO 27001 and POPIA.
• Identify compliance gaps and develop remediation plans.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update compliance programs accordingly.
• Prepare compliance reports for management and external bodies.
• Collaborate with IT, legal, and business units to integrate compliance requirements into operations.
• Manage third-party risk assessments related to security compliance.
• Provide guidance and training on security compliance best practices.
• Maintain documentation related to compliance activities and controls.
