Job summary

NHS Scotland invites applications for a GP to join Orcades Practice – Westray branch on the island of Westray in Orkney. The post is a permanent, single-handed role within a wider team of GPs and nurses, offering a 24/7 on-call framework and remote island living.

The salary ranges from £104,253 to £119,198 depending on experience, with a 45% enhancement for 24/7 cover and a pro-rated Distant Islands Allowance.

Qualifications

• Be an experienced GP
• Be part of a small island community
• Westray offers rotational working and 24/7 on-call support

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic primary care in a remote island setting.
• Deliver routine visiting services to support Nurse Practitioner led care on neighbouring Papa Westray.
• Participate in on-island rotation, usually 3 weeks at a time, with 24/7 on-call duties and emergency care training.
