Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote IoT Solutions Architect in South Africa to design end-to-end IoT ecosystems for diverse industrial clients. You will lead architecture across hardware, connectivity, cloud platforms, analytics, and security, translating business needs into scalable technical plans.

The role requires 10+ years in technology architecture with a strong IoT focus, and expert knowledge of AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, and Google Cloud IoT.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years in technology architecture with at least 5 years in IoT.
• Experience designing large-scale IoT solutions across industries.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google) for IoT.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end IoT solutions including hardware integration, connectivity, cloud, data analytics, and security.
• Evaluate and select IoT platforms and vendors based on client requirements.
• Develop technical architectures, specs, and PoC designs for IoT deployments.
• Collaborate with clients to translate business challenges into IoT strategies.
• Guide implementation with development teams to ensure architectural alignment.

This is a critical, fully remote role, enabling you to shape the future of connected industries from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for designing and architecting comprehensive IoT solutions for a diverse range of industrial clients, encompassing device integration, data platforms, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and security. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of IoT ecosystems, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), data management, cybersecurity principles, and has proven experience in translating complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure technical architectures. You will collaborate closely with clients, product managers, and engineering teams to define roadmaps, guide implementation, and ensure the successful deployment of transformative IoT solutions. Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology architecture, with at least 5 years specifically focused on IoT solutions.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing large-scale IoT solutions across various industries.
• In-depth knowledge of major cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT).
• Strong understanding of communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP) and device management platforms.
• Experience with data analytics, machine learning, and AI concepts as applied to IoT data.
• Expertise in IoT security best practices and implementation.
