Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a remote Insurance Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting team from a home office in South Africa. This organized, detail-oriented role focuses on administrative tasks, data entry, risk review, and policy processing to ensure accurate and efficient underwriting workflows.

You will liaise with agents and clients, maintain filing systems, and help prepare new and renewal applications. Ideal for candidates with 1–2 years in admin and a keen interest in insurance.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of administrative experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to underwriters, including managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and organizing files.
• Assist with the gathering and review of application information and supporting documents for new and renewal business.
• Perform preliminary analysis of risks based on established guidelines and input data into underwriting systems.
• Process policy endorsements, cancellations, and renewals accurately and efficiently.
• Liaise with agents, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information or clarify details.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic and physical filing systems for underwriting documentation.
