Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a remote Industrial Control Systems Engineer to join a global automation team from anywhere in South Africa. You will design, program, and support PLC/SCADA/HMI solutions, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires 6+ years in automation, expertise with PLC languages, SCADA software, and industrial networking protocols. You will collaborate with project managers and clients, providing remote troubleshooting and project leadership from a home office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 6+ years designing, programming, and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming languages for major platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi).
• Experience with SCADA software and HMI development (Ignition, Wonderware, WinCC).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and multi-project management in a remote setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and configure PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs for industrial processes.
• Develop and implement control strategies to optimize performance and safety.
• Troubleshoot and debug remotely, providing timely client and field support.
• Conduct remote testing, commissioning, and validation of automation solutions.
