Placements24 is seeking a dedicated In-House Counsel to join their expanding legal team. This fully remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa and requires providing broad-ranging legal support across contracts, IP, and compliance.

You will draft and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on POPIA/data privacy and employment law, manage IP portfolios, and help implement compliance programs while coordinating with internal teams.

Qualifications

Qualified legal professional with at least 3 years PQE.
Experience in corporate law and contract negotiation.
Familiarity with SA legislation including POPIA and commercial law.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including NDAs, service agreements, and licensing deals.
Provide legal advice on employment law, data privacy (POPIA), and company policies.
Manage intellectual property portfolios, including trademarks and copyrights.
Assist in the development and implementation of compliance frameworks and training programs.
Conduct legal research on evolving legislation and its impact on the business.
Support dispute resolution and manage external legal counsel when required.
