Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Human Resources Generalist for a fully remote role within South Africa, including Durban-area hub reference. You will support onboarding, payroll liaison, policy development, and compliance for a distributed workforce.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in HR, strong SA labour law knowledge, excellent communication, and experience with HRIS. You will work independently to drive HR initiatives and partner with managers across time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an HR Generalist or similar role.
• Proven experience in a fully remote setting and distributed teams.
• Strong knowledge of South Africa labour law and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficient in HRIS platforms and HR technology tools.
• Able to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HR operations: onboarding, offboarding, payroll liaison and benefits for remote staff.
• Develop and maintain HR policies aligning with company values and legal requirements.
• Administer employee relations and resolve issues effectively.
• Oversee performance management, goal setting, reviews and development planning.
• Support recruitment with hiring managers to attract remote talent.
• Ensure compliance with SA labor laws and regulations.
• Develop and deliver HR training programs for development and compliance.
• Contribute to HR strategies to support growth and culture.
• Serve as a point of contact for HR inquiries from employees.
