Job summary

Rugby Academy Paarl in Paarl, Western Cape, seeks an exceptionally experienced Head Coach to lead its high-performance program remotely. You will design curricula, identify talent, mentor staff, and drive strategic coaching initiatives for elite youth rugby.

This remote-first role requires a proven track record at professional or international level, advanced World Rugby coaching credentials, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive playing and/or coaching experience at professional or international level.
• Minimum of 10 years coaching experience, with 5+ years in head/senior role.
• World Rugby Level 4/5 coaching certification or equivalent credential.
• Proven ability to develop players technically, tactically, physically and mentally.
• Strong leadership, motivation and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a long-term coaching strategy and curriculum.
• Oversee recruitment and development of talented players.
• Lead and mentor assistant coaches and maintain coaching standards.
• Direct high-intensity training focusing on technical, tactical, physical and mental skills.
• Create game plans and monitor player progress with individual plans.
• Ensure welfare and holistic development of academy players.
• Collaborate with sport scientists, medical staff and educators.
• Manage coaching budget and resources efficiently.
• Stay updated on trends in rugby coaching and player development.
• Conduct remote coaching sessions, performance analysis reviews, and strategic planning meetings.
