Placements24 is seeking a Remote Lead Grid Operations Engineer to spearhead power system stability, reliability, and grid performance from a remote location servicing Randburg, Gauteng. You will guide a team of engineers, conduct advanced stability studies, and ensure robust real-time operations with EMS/SCADA integration.

The role demands a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems and 8+ years in grid operations, plus strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems).
• 8+ years in power grid operations and stability analysis.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams in critical operations.
• Experience with power system modeling and real-time tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct grid operations engineering teams focused on power system stability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop and implement strategies for maintaining grid stability and managing operational risks.
• Conduct advanced power system studies, including transient stability, voltage stability, and frequency control analysis.
• Oversee real-time grid operations, ensuring compliance with operating limits and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and mentor a team of power system engineers, providing technical expertise and guidance.
• Collaborate with system planning, protection, and market operations teams to ensure integrated grid management.
• Develop and refine operational procedures and emergency response plans.
• Analyze grid disturbances and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies for enhancing grid operations and stability.
• Represent the company in industry forums and working groups related to grid operations and standards.
