This fully remote role focuses on assessing stability of excavations, waste rock dumps, and tailings facilities using advanced modeling and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering.
• 7+ years geotechnical experience, mining focus.
• Proficiency with RocScience, Plaxis, FLAC.
• Strong rock and soil mechanics knowledge.
• Experience with slope/underground stability and tailings.
• Excellent written and verbal remote communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct slope stability analysis and ground support design for mining sites.
• Develop and review geotechnical models for rock and soil behavior.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly specialized Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert analysis and design support for their diverse mining projects. This position is fully remote, offering the convenience of working from home while contributing to critical geotechnical assessments and stability analyses for underground and open-pit operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety and stability of excavations, waste rock dumps, and tailings storage facilities by applying advanced geotechnical principles and innovative modeling techniques. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations, including slope stability analysis, ground support design, and seismic risk assessment.
• Develop and review geotechnical models using specialized software for simulating rock and soil behavior.
• Provide expert recommendations for the design and construction of mining excavations , tunnels, and surface infrastructure.
• Analyze data from site investigations, laboratory testing, and monitoring systems.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and design documents.
• Collaborate remotely with mine engineers, geologists, and project managers to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant portion focused on the mining industry .
• Proficiency with geotechnical modeling software (e.g., Rocscience suite, Plaxis, FLAC).
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and engineering geology.
• Experience in assessing the stability of slopes, underground excavations, and tailings facilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
