Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Geophysical Data Analyst for a fully remote position based in South Africa, with occasional travel to Midrand, Gauteng. You will interpret seismic and geophysical data, support exploration strategy, and collaborate with geologists and engineers from a home office.

Ideal candidates hold an MSc or PhD in Geophysics/Geology and have at least 5 years' experience working with industry-standard software such as Petrel, Kingdom Suite, and HampsonRussell.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geophysical data analysis and interpretation within the energy sector.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geophysical software packages (Petrel, Kingdom Suite, HampsonRussell).
• Experience with seismic processing, attribute analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data visualization skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.

Responsibilities

• Process, quality control, and interpret seismic and geophysical data.
• Utilize advanced software for data analysis, inversion, and attribute extraction.
• Produce maps, cross-sections, and visualizations.
• Integrate geophysical data with geological models and well logs.
• Identify hydrocarbon prospects and support exploration strategy.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
