Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join a fully remote team in South Africa. You will leverage advanced ML algorithms to derive insights from large financial datasets, build predictive models, and enhance risk assessment.

The role supports collaboration with a global team and offers flexibility for self-starters. The candidate should have a Ph.D./Master's in a quantitative field and 4+ years of experience, with strong Python/R, SQL, and big data skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with strong focus on financial analytics.
• Proficiency in Python or R with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases; knowledge of big data tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement ML models for financial forecasting, fraud detection, and risk modeling.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and drive business decisions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define data-driven solutions.
• Communicate findings through visualizations and presentations.
• Stay updated on advances in data science and financial analytics.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to knowledge sharing.
