Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Field Electrical Engineer for a remote-first role. You will oversee electrical aspects of ports, offshore platforms, and renewable energy projects, with substantial travel to project sites to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, the role requires autonomous work, strong technical leadership, and collaboration with clients and contractors to deliver robust electrical designs, commissioning, and asset management

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, large-scale infrastructure.
• Expertise in power generation, distribution, motor control, and protection systems.
• Experience with offshore renewable energy is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous area classifications and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical oversight for ports, harbors, offshore platforms and renewables.
• Conduct site inspections and assess electrical installations for safety and spec compliance.
• Lead commissioning of electrical systems including power, distribution and control.
• Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, and calculations.
• Specify equipment for harsh marine/industrial environments.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and other disciplines to resolve issues.
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, DNV and related standards.
• Manage electrical subcontractors and procurement.
• Mentor junior engineers within project teams.
• Contribute to maintenance and operational strategies.
