Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Environmental Health Specialist for an international public health organization. The role focuses on developing and evaluating environmental health programs, sanitation infrastructure, and evidence-based policies, with remote work from anywhere in South Africa.

Responsibilities include researching guidelines, analyzing data, training materials, grant writing support, and collaboration with global teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in environmental health program development, policy analysis, or research.
• Proven expertise in sanitation, hygiene, water quality, and vector control.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in data analysis and interpretation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Demonstrated experience working in a remote capacity and using virtual collaboration tools effectively.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop evidence-based guidelines and policies for environmental health and sanitation.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of existing public health and sanitation programs.
• Provide expert consultation and technical assistance to field teams and partner organizations remotely.
• Analyze environmental health data to identify trends, risks, and areas for intervention.
• Develop training materials and resources for environmental health professionals and community workers.
• Contribute to proposal development and grant writing for environmental health projects.
• Stay abreast of international best practices, research, and innovations in environmental health and sanitation.
• Collaborate virtually with international teams, stakeholders, and government agencies.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and publications on environmental health topics.
• Advise on the implementation of sanitation projects and sustainable environmental health solutions.
