Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Chemical Engineer for a remote contract role to support senior engineers on process design, data analysis, and documentation. The role offers flexible, remote work from SA locations, with responsibilities spanning mass/energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs development.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering and up to 2 years of experience, with strong communication and self-management; familiarity with process simulation is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 0–2 years of chemical engineering experience, including internships or co-op programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Excel for data analysis; familiarity with process simulation software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with process design tasks, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs development.
• Perform detailed calculations for equipment sizing and process performance analysis.
• Conduct literature searches and gather technical data for project requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Support data acquisition and analysis for ongoing projects.
• Help maintain project documentation and ensure accuracy.
