Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an energetic Energy Market Analyst to join our client’s leading energy advisory team. This is a fully remote role in South Africa with occasional travel to Upington, Northern Cape for client meetings and site visits.

You will conduct in-depth research on electricity, gas and renewable markets, develop market models, interpret policies, and deliver client-ready reports that inform investment and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field required.
• Minimum 5 years in energy market analysis or consulting.
• Strong skills in econometrics and forecasting.
• Proficiency with Excel, VBA, Python or R.
• Remote work ability with occasional travel to Upington.

Responsibilities

• Analyze electricity, gas, and renewable energy markets.
• Build market models to forecast prices and demand.
• Interpret policies and market structures.
• Assess viability of projects and investments.
• Prepare client reports and presentations.
• Support due diligence for M&A and project finance.
