Key Responsibilities

• Architect and design complex electrical systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage).
• Develop high-level system designs, including power generation, grid integration, and energy management strategies.
• Define technical specifications, performance requirements, and interface protocols for electrical components and subsystems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical risk assessments for new project designs.
• Collaborate virtually with project teams, including developers, grid operators, and equipment manufacturers worldwide.
• Provide expert technical consultation and guidance to support engineering teams in Cape Town, Western Cape and other locations.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and industry best practices in electrical engineering and renewable energy.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architectural diagrams, design guidelines, and technical reports.
• Ensure adherence to international electrical standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of extensive experience in electrical system design, with a strong focus on power systems and renewable energy technologies.
• Proven track record in architecting large-scale electrical systems and complex integrated solutions.
• Deep understanding of grid codes, interconnection standards, and power system stability.
• Experience with simulation tools for power systems analysis (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, ETAP).
• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills, proficiency in virtual collaboration tools.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage complex projects effectively in a Yes remote environment.
• Familiarity with energy storage systems (BESS) and smart grid technologies is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or equivalent international accreditation is highly desirable.
