About the Role

Our client, a global leader in distributed energy resources, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Electrical Power Systems Specialist . This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa, though initial collaboration may focus on projects related to the Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA region. You will be instrumental in the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems for various applications, including industrial facilities, microgrids, and renewable energy integrations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of power system dynamics, protection, and control, with a proven track record of delivering innovative and reliable solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, transient stability, and harmonic analysis.
• Design and specify electrical components and protection schemes for power systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
• Develop interconnection studies and impact assessments for the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems.
• Create and review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Provide expert technical consultation and support to project teams and clients on power system-related matters.
• Troubleshoot complex power system issues and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Stay current with advancements in power system technology, grid modernization, and regulatory changes.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and technical guidelines for power system design and operation.
• Collaborate effectively with remote teams using digital collaboration tools and platforms.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 8 years of intensive experience in electrical power systems engineering, analysis, and design.
• Proficiency with advanced power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD/EMTDC, or similar.
• Deep understanding of power system protection principles, relaying, and coordination.
• Experience with grid interconnection standards and best practices for distributed generation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a strong aptitude for complex technical challenges.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) designation is highly desirable.
