Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Data Scientist to join their innovative team in a remote-first role near Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA. You will develop and implement advanced predictive models to drive business insights and strategic decision-making.

You will work with large, complex datasets, applying statistical analysis and ML techniques, collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders, and design experiments to evaluate model performance and impact.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a strong focus on predictive modeling.
• Experience with Python or R and data science libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models using ML algorithms.
• Data exploration, feature engineering, and preprocessing on large datasets.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and experiments to evaluate models.
• Communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with data engineers to build and optimize data pipelines.
• Monitor model performance and plan retraining strategies.
• Stay updated with advances in data science and ML techniques.
