Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Data Scientist to join the Research & Development division. The role is remote, based in Pretoria, SA, and focuses on extracting actionable insights from complex datasets to guide strategic decisions.

You will develop predictive models, perform statistical analyses, and create visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a quantitative field.
• 5+ years applying data science and ML techniques to real-world problems.
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• SQL and large, complex datasets experience.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
• Excellent problem-solving and remote communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy ML models for predictive analytics and pattern recognition in R&D data.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and insights for research objectives.
• Design and implement A/B tests and other designs to evaluate hypotheses.
• Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Stay abreast of advances in data science, ML, and statistical modeling.
