Placements24 is seeking a Remote Data Scientist to join a mining technology leader. You will analyze ore grade, equipment performance, safety incidents, and operations data to drive data-informed decisions.

This fully remote role is within South Africa, with potential global placements subject to client policy. You will build ML models for predictive maintenance and production forecasting, develop data pipelines, and present insights to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, CS, or Mathematics.
• Minimum 5 years of professional data science experience with mining analytics preferred.
• Proficiency in Python or R with modern ML libraries (pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch).
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation and experience with Spark/Hadoop.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and data visualization (Tableau/Power BI).
