You will be instrumental in developing sophisticated models and algorithms to extract actionable insights from vast datasets related to exploration, production, safety, and environmental monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization, coupled with a passion for applying these skills to solve complex challenges in the mining sector. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for mining applications (e.g., predictive maintenance, ore grade prediction, safety anomaly detection).
• Clean, process, and transform large, complex datasets from various mining sources (e.g., sensor data, geological logs, production reports).
• Collaborate with domain experts (geologists, engineers) to understand business problems and translate them into data science solutions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytical workflows.
• Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and their applications in the mining industry.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance the data science capabilities.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with demonstrable experience in building and deploying machine learning models in production.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, including relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas).
• Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark) is a plus.
• Experience applying data science techniques to the mining sector or other heavy industry is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting.
