Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as Data Science, CS, Stats or Math.
• Minimum 5+ years as a Data Scientist with ML project portfolio.
• Proficiency in Python or R and ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas).
• Experience with big data (Spark/Hadoop) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong statistical modeling, data mining, and ML algorithms knowledge.
• SQL and NoSQL databases familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.
• Mining industry or geological/operational datasets experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for predictive maintenance, ore grade forecasting, and operational optimization in mining contexts.
• Collect, clean, and process large, complex datasets from various sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and correlations relevant to mining operations.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and analytical workflows.
• Collaborate with domain experts, including geologists and engineers, to understand business needs and translate them into data science solutions.
• Communicate complex findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and reports.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, particularly as they apply to the Mining industry.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist with a strong portfolio of machine learning projects.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas).
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, data mining, and machine learning algorithms.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
