Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Credit Controller for a remote role in South Africa. You will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, perform credit checks, set credit limits, and help optimise cash flow while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role requires 2–3 years in credit control, a Grade 12 certificate, and knowledge of SA credit regulations. You should have excellent negotiation, communication and Excel skills, with proficiency in accounting software.

Qualifications

• A Grade 12 certificate is required; additional qualifications in Credit Management or Bookkeeping are advantageous.
• Minimum 2–3 years' experience in Credit Control or Accounts Receivable.
• Proven debt collection experience and ability to manage overdue accounts.
• Strong understanding of credit assessment principles and best practices.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Able to work independently in a remote setting and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of South African credit and debt collection regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts with timely collection of debts.
• Conduct credit checks on new and existing customers.
• Set up and review credit limits per policy and risk profile.
• Monitor ageing of accounts receivable and identify overdue balances.
• Contact customers to arrange payment via phone/email.
• Resolve invoice and payment disputes.
• Implement collection strategies for delinquent accounts.
• Process payments and allocate funds accurately.
• Prepare regular AR reports and collaborate with sales to manage credit risk.
• Maintain up-to-date customer account information.
