Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant and proactive Construction Health and Safety Officer to ensure safety standards across projects. The role operates remotely to oversee sites regionally, including Sandton, developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs.

You will conduct site assessments, provide expert guidance to site teams, and foster a strong safety culture through training and regular inspections in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
• Proficient in risk assessment techniques and hazard identification.
• Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
• SAMTRAC or NOSA qualification is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's health and safety management system.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide H&S training and toolbox talks to site personnel and management.
• Ensure all activities comply with South African OHS Act and relevant regulations.
