Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Community Development Officer for a dynamic non-profit in Benoni. You will identify community needs, design development projects, mobilize local resources, and engage local government and partners to drive sustainable change in Gauteng.

The role emphasizes collaboration, facilitation, and independence, with a focus on empowering communities and delivering tangible improvements in Benoni and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in community development or project management within the non-profit sector.
• Demonstrated experience in needs assessment, project planning, and implementation.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
• Familiarity with participatory rural appraisal (PRA) methods is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for community development projects.
• Develop project proposals and plans, ensuring alignment with community priorities and organizational goals.
• Facilitate community meetings and workshops to encourage participation and ownership of projects.
• Coordinate project implementation, managing timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and other development partners.
• Monitor and evaluate project progress and impact, preparing regular reports for stakeholders in Benoni.
