Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Virtual Child Psychologist & Early Intervention Specialist to support families remotely across South Africa. You will conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, and provide tele-mental health support for young children and their caregivers.

This fully remote position requires expertise in child development, DSM-5, and evidence-based therapies, plus strong virtual communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Registered or eligible for registration with HPCSA as a Psychologist.
• Minimum of 5 years post-doctoral experience specializing in child/adolescent psychology with early intervention.
• Proven experience delivering psychological services via telehealth or remote platforms.
• Expertise in child development, psychopathology, DSM-5, and evidence-based therapies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive virtual psychological assessments for children, identifying developmental delays, behavioral issues, and emotional challenges.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans and therapeutic strategies for children and their families via telehealth.
• Provide ongoing remote counseling and support to children and parents/guardians.
• Educate families on child development, behavioral management techniques, and coping strategies.
• Collaborate with other professionals via virtual channels to ensure holistic child care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and best practices in child psychology and tele-mental health.
• Facilitate virtual support groups for parents and caregivers.
• Adapt therapeutic approaches to suit the virtual medium effectively.
