Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Chief Surveyor for a fully remote role overseeing surveying across global mining operations. You will establish survey control, manage data acquisition, and ensure spatial data integrity for mine planning, design, and reporting.

The ideal candidate brings a decade of surveying experience, including at least five years in a leadership role, with expertise in GNSS, LiDAR, and CAD workflows. This high-impact position offers autonomy and global reach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of surveying experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within mining or construction.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience with modern surveying equipment and software (Total Stations, GNSS, LiDAR, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson).
• Strong understanding of geodetic principles and coordinate systems.
• Proven ability to manage remote teams and projects effectively.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement surveying strategies and standards for all company projects.
• Oversee the acquisition, processing, and management of all survey data, including topographic, boundary, and control surveys.
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data used for mine planning, design, and construction.
• Manage and mentor a team of remote surveyors and technicians.
• Evaluate and recommend new surveying technologies and equipment for adoption.
• Liaise with external survey consultants and regulatory bodies as required.
