About the Role

Our client, a progressive international exploration and development company, is seeking an exceptional Chief Geologist to lead their geological endeavors. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for guiding exploration strategies, managing geological teams, and ensuring the successful discovery and delineation of mineral resources across various global projects. This role demands a visionary leader with extensive experience in exploration geology, resource estimation, and strategic project management within the dynamic mining sector. Your insights will directly shape the future direction and success of our client's portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative exploration strategies and targets based on regional geological understanding and data analysis.
• Oversee and manage all aspects of exploration projects, including field operations, data acquisition, and quality control.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of geologists and field technicians across different project locations.
• Interpret geological data from various sources, including geophysical surveys, geochemical sampling, drilling results, and remote sensing.
• Manage the estimation and reporting of mineral resources according to international standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in geological exploration, data management, and health and safety protocols.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports, technical memorandums, and presentations for senior management and external audiences.
• Stay current with advancements in geological exploration techniques, technologies, and commodity markets.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in exploration geology, with a significant portion focused on leading exploration programs.
• Proven track record of successful mineral discoveries and resource definition across various commodities and geological settings.
• Extensive experience in resource modeling and estimation, with a deep understanding of geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, Datamine).
• Strong leadership, team management, and project management skills, ideally with experience managing remote teams.
• Excellent understanding of relevant reporting codes (JORC, NI 43-101).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a remote work environment.
• Membership in relevant professional geological societies is preferred.
