Placements24 is looking for a skilled Broadband Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize high-speed networks in Upington and remote operations. You will ensure reliable data transmission, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to telecom service delivery for a wide customer base.

The role requires a strong networking background, proficiency with TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and network monitoring tools, plus a commitment to security best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of broadband network engineering or operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of broadband access technologies (DSL, Cable, FTTx).
• Proficiency in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Experience with network monitoring and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with network security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage broadband network infrastructure, including DSLAMs, CMTS, and fiber optic access networks.
• Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
• Configure and maintain routing and switching equipment to ensure optimal network operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network planning, upgrades, and new technology deployments.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Ensure the security and integrity of the broadband network.
