Placements24 is seeking a Biopharmaceutical Development Scientist to join a globally distributed, fully remote research team. The role focuses on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for biologics, including upstream cell culture, downstream purification, and tech transfer, enabling scalable production of novel protein therapeutics.

Qualifications

• PhD in a life-sciences discipline required (Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, etc.).
• Minimum of 5 years in biopharmaceutical process development (upstream and/or downstream).
• Experience with mammalian cell culture process development or protein purification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize cell culture processes for mammalian cell lines.
• Design and execute purification strategies for recombinant proteins and mAbs.
• Characterize biopharmaceutical products for identity, purity, potency, stability.
• Perform DoE studies to optimize CPPs and CQAs.
• Support technology transfer to pilot plant and manufacturing sites.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with analytical development to validate methods.
• Contribute to regulatory documentation (CMC sections for INDs/BLAs).
• Stay updated with biopharma developments and regulatory guidelines.
