Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to design, develop, and validate complex electrical architectures for future vehicles. The role is remote-first, collaborating with global teams while focusing on Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, and other sites.

You will lead simulations, define requirements, and drive robust electrical solutions. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in automotive electrical systems, strong CAD and simulation tool proficiency,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive electrical systems engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Zuken E3.series) and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
• Experience with automotive power electronics, battery management systems (BMS), and charging systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of EMC standards and mitigation techniques.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a remote setting.
• Experience with AUTOSAR architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical system architectures, including power distribution, wiring harnesses, and grounding strategies.
• Define requirements for electrical components, sensors, actuators, and ECUs.
• Perform electrical system simulations and analyses (EMC, transient analysis).
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Develop and execute test plans for electrical systems and components validation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues during development and production phases.
• Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, design documentation, and BOMs.
• Stay current with advancements in automotive electrical technology, industry standards, and best practices.
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure component quality and timely delivery.
