Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Aircraft Design Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will concept, design, and refine aircraft structures and systems, leveraging advanced CAD/CAE tools to meet performance and safety targets.

You’ll collaborate with a global engineering team, translate complex requirements into tangible designs, and ensure compliance with airworthiness standards while pursuing innovative materials and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft design with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE software (CATIA/SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of aerodynamics, structures, materials science, and aircraft systems.
• Experience with composite materials and manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and remote collaboration skills.
• Eligible to work remotely from Benoni, Gauteng, ZA.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop aircraft structures, airframes, and integrated systems using modern CAD software.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, including structural, aerodynamic, and thermal analysis, to validate designs.
• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Research and evaluate new materials and technologies to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Contribute to testing and validation phases, providing design support and resolving issues.
• Ensure designs comply with aviation regulations, airworthiness standards, and safety requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in aircraft design and aerospace technology.
