Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Agronomy Consultant to advise farming partners across regions, including Bloemfontein, Free State. You will apply crop science, soil health, and sustainable farming practices to help clients optimize yields and profitability from a fully remote position.

You will develop customized agronomic plans, interpret soil and weather data, and conduct virtual consultations, webinars, and training to keep partners ahead of industry advances.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field.
• 8+ years progressive experience in agronomic consulting, research, or farm management.
• Deep knowledge of crop types, soil health, IPM, and sustainable farming systems.
• Strong data interpretation of agricultural data, remote sensing, and weather patterns.
• Excellent communication and ability to build client relationships remotely.

In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of crop science, soil health, and sustainable farming practices to help clients optimize their yields, manage risks, and improve overall farm profitability. Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote agronomic advice and technical support to farmers on crop planning, soil management, pest and disease control, and nutrient application.
• Develop customized agronomic plans and recommendations based on client-specific farm conditions, crop types, and strategic goals.
• Utilize remote sensing data, weather information, and soil analysis results to inform recommendations and guide decision-making.
• Conduct virtual consultations, webinars, and training sessions for farmers and agricultural stakeholders.
• Stay current with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in agronomy and sustainable agriculture.
• Assist clients in adopting new technologies and innovative farming techniques to enhance productivity and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in agronomic consulting, research, or farm management.
• In-depth knowledge of diverse crop types, soil health principles, integrated pest management, and sustainable farming systems.
