Placements24 is seeking an experienced Agronomist and Crop Consultant to join their remote team serving agricultural operations near Paarl in the Western Cape. The role focuses on applying scientific principles to improve crop yields, quality, and farm sustainability through data-driven remote advisory.

You will analyze soil and plant data, develop crop management plans, advise on pest, disease and nutrient strategies, and monitor trends and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as an agronomist or crop consultant, including remote advisory work.
• Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, entomology, plant pathology, and weed science.
• Experience with agricultural data analysis tools and software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills for virtual environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct remote analysis of soil, plant tissue and crop health data to diagnose issues and identify opportunities.
• Develop comprehensive crop management plans including fertilization, irrigation, and pest/disease control recommendations.
• Provide expert virtual consultation to farmers and farm managers on planting, cultivation and harvesting techniques.
• Monitor agricultural trends and research findings to provide up-to-date advice on best practices and new technologies.
• Assist in implementing and monitoring sustainable agricultural practices.
