Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Remote Agricultural Data Scientist to join a leader in agricultural technology. You will analyze large datasets from IoT sensors, satellite imagery, and yield records to build predictive models for crop yields, resource management, and profitability.

This fully remote role offers flexible hours, collaboration with engineers to deploy models, and opportunities to advance data science in precision farming from anywhere, including George, Western Cape.

Qualificações

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field with data science focus.
• Proven experience with large datasets and predictive modeling.
• Proficiency in Python or R and data science libraries.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).

Responsabilidades

• Develop, implement, and maintain statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze agricultural data, predict crop yields, and identify optimal farming strategies.
• Process, clean, and integrate large, complex datasets from various sources, including IoT sensors, drones, satellite imagery, and weather stations.
• Design and conduct experiments to validate models and assess their impact on farm performance.
• Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including agronomists and farm managers.
• Collaborate with software engineers to deploy models into production environments and develop data-driven agricultural tools.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and agricultural technology.
• Identify opportunities for data collection and analysis to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
• Provide expert advice on data governance, quality, and security within agricultural contexts.
