Placements24 is seeking an experienced Accountant to join a fully remote finance team based in George. The role covers the complete accounting cycle, financial reporting, analysis, and compliance, supporting the company’s strategic goals in a digitally enabled environment from anywhere in South Africa.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting, with 5+ years of experience, IFRS and SA tax knowledge, and proficiency in Xero/QuickBooks Online plus advanced Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a remote setting.
• Solid knowledge of IFRS and South African tax regulations.
• Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks Online) and advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
• Professional qualification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, identify trends, and provide insights to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with South African tax laws and accounting standards (IFRS).
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual financial audits.
• Develop and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems for increased efficiency.
