Placements24 is seeking an Academic Advisor to guide university students toward achieving academic and career goals in a fully remote role. The position emphasizes compassionate guidance, course planning, and navigating degree requirements, with potential in-person meetings near Pretoria, Gauteng, ZA.

You will connect students with campus resources, advocate for their needs, and monitor progress while collaborating with faculty to support retention and student development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual academic advising to undergraduate students, assisting with course selection and degree planning.
• Help students understand and navigate university policies, procedures, and academic regulations.
• Monitor student academic progress and intervene proactively to address potential challenges.
• Connect students with appropriate campus resources, such as tutoring services, career counseling, and mental health support.
• Assist students in developing academic and career goals, and creating action plans to achieve them.
• Facilitate orientation sessions for new students, introducing them to academic expectations and resources.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
• Stay informed about curriculum changes and program updates.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff across departments to support student success initiatives.
