Job summary

SBV South Africa in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Logistics Planner to optimise route planning and resource coordination within our operations. You will support the Finance Business Partner’s costing, monitor routes in real time, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ESG requirements.

• 3 years’ experience using route planning software and systems, with 1 year coordinating resources.
• Experience in logistics planning and optimisation is essential.
• Proficiency with MS Office and data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Logistics Manager on daily demand and work schedules; validate planned vs actual execution with the control room.
• Verify authorisation of unplanned routes and run changes due to constraints.
• Coordinate with internal SBV Support and external technology vendors.
• Manage data availability, workflow, and service levels with IT.
• Analyze trend reports to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
• Provide reports per templates and timeframes; support change initiatives.
• Align with SBV Services' Quality Management Standards (ISO 9001:2015) and ESG reporting.
• Integrate new business, mergers, acquisitions, or outsourcing into existing routes.

Description

• Plan routes and assess their viability in line with the costing done by the Finance Business Partner
• Adhere to the stipulated insurance agreements and SOPs.
• Monitor, manage and report the effectiveness of routes through applicable systems.
• Monitor routes in real time via the Control room and/or Control Tower

Responsibilities

• Advise and provide visibility to the Logistics Manager on what the daily demand and a work schedules. Validate planned vs actual operational execution in conjunction with the control room, escalating deviations to management and re-plan when needed.
• Verify and obtain authorisation of unplanned routes such as specials, adhocs and run combining from Logistics Management team, daily due to operational constraints.
• Engage with centre Logistics Management team to verify model integrity, optimal planning process and adherence.
• Coordinate system support between internal SBV Support and external technology vendors.
• Manage the interfacing process with IT in respect of data availability, workflow and service levels.
• Engage with the Logistics Team Controllers regarding any discrepancies and follow-up on service point information.
• Analyse trend reports to identify inefficiencies within Logistics execution and recommend suggestions/improvements.
• Provide reports as per agreed templates and timeframes
• Provide support for the implementation and execution of relevant change initiatives
• Subscribe and align to SBV Services' ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards, ensuring the department’s processes and quality management system is at all times in compliance with the standard.
• Support SBVs ESG journey, reporting on and managing the ESG requirements to ensure a positive reflection and outcome.
• Responsible for integrating new business, mergers, acquisitions, outsourcing agreements into existing infrastructure
• Analyse the new business demands and establish the most cost effective and efficient way to integrate into new or existing routes
• Responsible for providing Finance Business Partners with accurate information to update route costing.
• Provide input into strategic planning engagements and models.
• Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Gather and consolidate feedback to Support Office Billing department when required.
• Provide Billing Department on which model, services were rendered.
• Confirm the distance/bands to be used for billing for new branches or changes to existing IBTs / branches / CC’s and share with Onboarding team when onboarding new clients.
• Provide Billing Department with a report indicating any route changes.
• Drive the department’s values while inspiring confidence and generating excitement, enthusiasm and commitment towards the mission.
• Act as a change management architect in periods of change to ensure business continuity.
• Manage the integration of business units into a seamless end to end solution for customers.
• Effectively communicate and embed new processes and procedures as they occur, addressing or escalating matters/ concerns to the SME’s (subject matter experts) when required.
• Facilitate the necessary presentations, workshops, or forums to ensure consistent and accurate communication is given across one’s portfolio.

Internal

• 3 years’ experience utilising route planning software and systems of which 1-year experience in planning and coordinating resources

External

• 4 years’ experience in logistical optimisation and planning of which 2 years’ experience in planning and coordinating resources
• Supply chain environment or a Logistics industry: Advantageous
• Prior experience in Lean/Kaizen principles: Advantageous
