Placements24 is seeking a Regional Operations Manager for its Upington, Northern Cape facility. You will oversee all daily manufacturing operations, drive lean initiatives, ensure safety and quality, and manage budgets and resources to meet production targets.

You will lead a team of manufacturing professionals, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, workflow management, and quality control.
• Ensure that production targets are met in terms of quantity, quality, and timeliness.
• Implement and champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Manage the plant's operational budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.
• Lead, train, and motivate the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and productivity.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and repair to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods within the Upington, Northern Cape facility.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and sales departments to align production with business needs.
• Monitor and report on key operational metrics and performance indicators.

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the (specific industry, e.g., automotive parts or industrial equipment) sector, is seeking a highly competent Regional Operations Manager to oversee their manufacturing facility in Upington, Northern Cape. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of plant production, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in manufacturing operations management, a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, and proven leadership skills. You will be tasked with optimizing production processes, managing resources effectively, and leading a team of dedicated manufacturing professionals to achieve production targets. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.


• Proven experience in implementing and managing lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.


• Strong understanding of production processes, quality control systems, and industrial safety standards.


• Excellent leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.


• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational expenses.


• Proficiency in manufacturing execution systems (MES) and ERP software.


• Ability to work effectively in a demanding production environment.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Experience working within the Upington, Northern Cape industrial sector is a plus.
