Job summary

Alstom in South Africa is seeking a full-time Assembler Welder in Boksburg. You will weld sub-assemblies, underframes and carbody structures for railway applications, ensuring quality and compliance with welding standards.

You will work with cross-functional teams and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including APSYS and 5S. Required: welding qualification or boilermaker certificate (mandatory) and 5+ years of manufacturing experience; ability to read welding symbols and

Qualifications

• Welding qualification or Boilermaker certificate (mandatory).
• Experience in manufacturing environment (minimum 5 years).
• Ability to read welding symbols and engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Welding components, sub-assemblies, frames and structures following WPS and drawings.
• Positioning, tack welding and welding brackets using engineering drawings.
• Use workshop work orders to track activity data and input updates.
• Inspect and repair non-conformities; ensure quality through self-inspection and auto-control.
• Contribute to continuous improvement processes (APSYS, SWIP, 5S) and daily team meetings.

Education

Welding qualification or Boilermaker certificate

Welding Trade Test, Plater Welder, or NDT qualifications
