Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd in Amanzimtoti, South Africa, seeks a skilled Welder to join its plant maintenance team. You will perform high-quality welding repairs and fabrication to support safe, continuous production.

Carry out maintenance, repair and fabrication welding on plant equipment and structures; weld carbon steel, stainless steel and wear-resistant materials; read drawings and welding symbols; inspect welds; set up equipment; follow hot work and PPE; assist shutdowns and major repairs.

Qualifications

  • Trade Tested Welder or relevant welding qualification.
  • Coded welding certification (e.g. ASME IX, ISO 9606 or SANS) is highly advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years' welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or a similar heavy industrial environment is strongly preferred.
  • Competence across multiple welding processes and positions.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and welding symbols.
  • Good understanding of the OHS Act and hot work safety practices.
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, standby and weekends.
  • Clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow hot work permits, fire prevention and PPE procedures at all times.
  • Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
  • Support boilermakers and fitters during shutdowns and major repairs.
  • Be available for shift work, standby and emergency call-outs.
