Job summary

Alstom in South Africa is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Leader for its Elementary Production Unit in Gauteng. You will coordinate daily production activities, supervise operators, and ensure safety, quality, and adherence to standard work.

You will work with cross-functional teams across project management, engineering, sourcing, and quality to drive continuous improvement, meet outputs, and develop blue-collar staff while complying with EHS regulations.

Qualifications

• Secondary education with a trade qualification in Welding or Boiler Making/N3 (mandatory).
• A technical degree would be considered an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar operational role.
• Experience supervising blue-collar workers in a unionized environment.
• Experience in railway industry or industrialization desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing activities, supervising operators and ensuring safety and quality adherence.
• Allocate daily work to operators and monitor progress, productivity, and standard work compliance.
• Drive adherence to APSYS tools and continuous improvement initiatives within the EPU.
• Ensure operational readiness and address production constraints to meet output, quality and safety targets.
• Coordinate operator training, onboarding and skills development to maintain a competent workforce.
