Job summary

Alstom in Richards Bay is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) to plan, supervise and optimize plant and equipment maintenance at the depot. You will coordinate maintenance activities, manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Italics: 3-5 years in railways system/application engineering.
Maintenance background with 5+ years’ experience in operation and maintenance.
Technical background with minimum 5 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

Plan, supervise, and monitor maintenance activities (calibrations and interventions).
Coordinate forecasts from the Maintenance Management System.
Ensure detailed, documented, and correctly implemented maintenance schedules.
Minimise disruption through planning and coordination with stakeholders.
Investigate breakdowns using root cause analysis.
Plan for maintenance consumables and spares with stock control.
Monitor locomotive availability and KPI data (MTBF, MTTR).
Maintain traceable records of certificates, reports and safety documents.
Ensure contractor induction and adherence to safety requirements.
Contribute to APSYS actions for equipment availability.
