Job summary

Alstom in Boksburg seeks an Elementary Production Unit (EPU) Leader to manage daily manufacturing activities and supervise operators in a safe, quality-driven environment.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure on-time production while meeting safety standards and cost targets. A strong leadership record in an industrial setting is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Secondary education with a trade qualification in Welding or Boiler Making/N3 (mandatory).
• A technical degree would be considered an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar operational role.
• Experience supervising blue-collar workers in a unionized environment.
• Proven ability to meet master production schedules and manage blue-collar labor.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and lean management tools.
• Familiarity with EHS regulations and industrial management practices.
• Strong leadership with adaptability, inclusivity, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Allocating daily work to operators and monitoring progress, productivity, and adherence to standard work practices.
• Driving adherence to APSYS tools and continuous improvement initiatives within the EPU.
• Ensuring operational readiness and addressing production constraints to meet planned output, quality, and safety requirements.
• Coordinating operator training, onboarding, and skills development to maintain a competent and engaged workforce.
• Monitoring SQCD indicators and implementing corrective actions to achieve targets.
• Facilitating root-cause analysis and supporting the implementation of corrective actions to resolve production issues.
